Every summer, the Lesher family travels to Colorado. The men hike 14ers, the girls shop & enjoy the land, while the kids run around and throw rocks into the river. We enjoy these trips every year. It hasn’t always been Colorado we have traveled to, but the last handful of years it has, and in those years huge milestones have happened in our family. My in laws are the reason we travel here every summer. Colorado was the place they spent their honeymoon. It’s where they aspire to hike, enjoy the mountain air, and truly unwind from the weight of work & the world. When you live in Kansas, you begin to crave the mountains, the altitude, the adventure. When I saw my in laws had an empty space on their wall above the bed, I knew exactly what I would fill it with. A painting called, “Take Me To The Mountains”. It’s a culmination of their love story. It’s a painting of a desire. It’s a view they can’t get out of their heads. It’s where memories are made. It’s where we need a bigger Airbnb every year because their family tree has grown into needing two homes, a blessing that is beyond measure. The particular mountains in this painting are ones hiked by my father in law himself, alongside his twin. The view from the water is one my mother in law wishes to see and walk. It's where we plan to stroller ride not just one grand baby this year... but now 5 collectively among them and their siblings' grand babies. How amazing is this life we get to live? "Take Me To The Mountains" is a love story that is now hung on the walls of their bedroom, one that is blessed by God, and has growth beyond measure.
